Saving waterfall and checklist images in Desktop client automation
Hi,
I have tried the AOL Pagetest for desktop and it is a great tool. I am able to get all the data interactively and am able to export the images (png format) of waterfall and checklist views. I took the next step to automate this using the registry keys and have been successful to get most of the data in files but am missing the waterfall and checklist graphs. I am running Windows XP (SP3), IE 7 with AOL Pagetest Version 2.0.0.221. Here are the files which I am successfully getting: IEWPG.txt IEWTR.txt optimization.txt progress.csv report.txt screen.jpg screen_doc.jpg screen_render.jpg status.txt Am I missing something which prevents the waterfall and checklist images to be saved? Please help. Thanks |

RE: Saving waterfall and checklist images in Desktop client automation
You want the "Save Everything" reg key (under the SOM tree): http://www.webpagetest.org/docs/Automati...istry_Keys
That was shorthand for everything and the kitchen sink and was used for the on-demand pagetest testing. Sorry about the obscure paths as well, it has evolved over several years and changed names more than once :-) Thanks, -Pat |

Thanks for the reply.
I am using the "Save Everything" reg key and it is saving the txt files and the page screenshot images. But it does not seem to be saving the _waterfall.gif and _optimization.gif files. Harry Attached is the screen shot of the folder where all the files are saved |

RE: Saving waterfall and checklist images in Desktop client automation
Sorry, had a mental goof. I used to use the images generated by pagetest itself but the waterfall and optimization checklists are actually drawn on-demand from the data now (uses the object data in the IEWTR file). It takes a lot less storage space that way.
I can point you to the php code that draws the images if that would help. Otherwise you're welcome to wire the code back up to save the waterfall images but I probably wouldn't be able to do it for quite a while. |

If you can point me to the php code that draws the images it will be very helpful.
Thanks a lot Pat for helping out with this. Harry |

RE: Saving waterfall and checklist images in Desktop client automation
The site code is in SVN here: http://code.webpagetest.org/svn/
The main entry point for creating a waterfall is in waterfall.php and the drawing code is in waterfall.inc. There are several supporting files that are used to load the object data from the IEWTR file but it should be able to work stand-alone with a few tweaks. |
