Next release date estimate? - adamcath - 10-30-2014 07:45 AM

Hi guys,

We're about to set up a new system and would love to know if we should wait for 2.16 - looks like there's lots of good stuff in there - or stay on 2.15 for now. Any ETA on that release?

Thanks,
Adam

I can bundle up a release next week now that server-side video rendering is done.

There's nothing particularly special about the releases. They are just snapshots of the trunk that I take every 3 months or so. The main webpagetest.org site (and most other instances I run) all are running trunk all the time.

Hi Patrick,

Would it be possible to get 2.16 released in the next couple of weeks?
I am changing jobs over the new year and would like to deploy/ double check all the fixes for tsviewdb into the private instances that we are using before leaving.

Also is there a "latest" download url? eg. wpt-latest.zip
this would be useful for scripts so when 2.17 those scripts don't have to be updated etc.

thanks in advance,
Alex

Sure. I can cut it this week. There isn't an URL for latest. What I did with the server AMI was to install the server directly from a git pull of the trunk and there are 2 new settings.ini settings that will keep it up to date automatically.

gitUpdate=1 - Hourly runs a "git pull origin master" as the web user to update from trunk
agentUpdate=http://cdn.webpagetest.org/ - Hourly checks with the public WebPagetest server to see if there are agent updates and downloads them.

The trunk is stable and is what is run on the public WebPagetest instance. It does mean that the instance will change automatically though and they may not know when or what changed.
