Having issues running IE9 locally - Chrome works fine
When I try to run urlBlast.exe it opens IE9 and just sits there. I scanned the forums for various fixes but so far nothing works. Below are my ini file settings. I am *not* running DummyNet since it's on a Win7 x64 machine so I can't install DummyNet as a service.
Things I've tried: - set c:\webpagetest-agent\log folder to "everyone" user has full access. - run uriblast.ini in administrator mode - setup a different user account for uriblast to run under (this was causing other issues - "flushing cache" hung message) uriblast.ini [Configuration] debug=1 Startup Delay=30 Log File=c:\webpagetest-agent\log Timeout=60 account=wpt password=*********** (password removed for post) ; Where to get work from Url Files Url=http://127.0.0.1/work/ Location=Test_IE ;Location Key=TestKey123 locations.ini [locations] 1=Test_loc default=Test_loc [Test_loc] 1=Test_IE 2=Test_Chrome default=Test_IE label=Test Location [Test_IE] browser=IE 9 ;browserExe=pagetest.exe latency=0 label="Internet Explorer 9" ;key=TestKey123 localDir=c:\dev\webpagetest\www connectivity=LAN [Test_Chrome] browser=Chrome latency=0 label="Chrome" ;key=TestKey123 localDir=c:\dev\webpagetest\www connectivity=LAN uriblast log file 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 0 0 URLBlast Started 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 4 0 CPU String Intel® Core i7 CPU Q 820 @ 1.73GHz 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 5 1729 CPU MHz 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 6 8123 Total RAM (MB) 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 7 476626 Disk Size (MB) 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 8 413285 Disk Free (MB) 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 9 6 OS Version Windows Vista (6.1.7600 SP 0.0 Suite 0x00000100 Product 1) 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 10 0 Computer Name ERMAND-LAL7 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 19 0 Info Screen: 1600 x 900 - 32 bpp 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 11 9 IE Version 9.0.8112.16421 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 12 280 URLBlast Version 2.2.0.280 2011/06/18 20:00:47 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Running cmd /C "C:\webpagetest-agent\dummynet\ipfw.cmd" in C:\webpagetest-agent\dummynet\ 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Initializing WinPCap 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Current WinPCap Version: WinPcap version 4.1.2 (packet.dll version 4.1.0.2001), based on libpcap version 1.0 branch 1_0_rel0b (20091008) 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Initializing WinPCap Complete 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Logging on user:wpt1, password:************* 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Logon ok, loading user profile 2011/06/18 20:00:48 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Profile loaded, locating profile directory 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug DoUserLogon successful for wpt1 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Waiting for startup synchronization 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Running... 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Requesting work from 127.0.0.1/work/getwork.php?location=Test_IE&key=&pc=mypc 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Job of type 'text/plain' received 2011/06/18 20:00:49 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Work request response was empty 2011/06/18 20:01:04 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Requesting work from 127.0.0.1/work/getwork.php?location=Test_IE&key=&pc=mypc 2011/06/18 20:01:04 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Job of type 'text/plain' received 2011/06/18 20:01:04 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Work request response was empty 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Requesting work from 127.0.0.1/work/getwork.php?location=Test_IE&key=&pc=mypc 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Job of type 'text/plain' received 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Url to be tested: http://espn.go.com 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Flushing DNS cache 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug DnsFlushResolverCache returned 1 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Executing 'ipconfig.exe /flushdns' 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Successfully ran 'ipconfig.exe /flushdns' 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Launching... user='wpt1', path='C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe', command line='"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" about:blank' 2011/06/18 20:01:20 -1 7 1 3 0 Browser Launched Cleared Cache-Run_1^http://espn.go.com 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 15 0 Terminated Hung Browser Cleared Cache-Run_1^http://espn.go.com 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Uploading 22 byte file C:\ProgramData\urlblast\110619_4J_A-1.zip 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Flushing DNS cache 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug DnsFlushResolverCache returned 1 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Executing 'ipconfig.exe /flushdns' 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Successfully ran 'ipconfig.exe /flushdns' 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 20 0 Debug Launching... user='wpt1', path='C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe', command line='"C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe" about:blank' 2011/06/18 20:03:20 -1 7 1 3 0 Browser Launched Cleared Cache-Run_1^http://espn.go.com 2011/06/18 20:05:20 -1 7 1 15 0 Terminated Hung Browser Cleared Cache-Run_1^http://espn.go.com BTW: Log file says user is wpt1??? RE: Having issues running IE9 locally - Chrome works fine
The user account always adds a number to the end. This is an artifact of some old capabilities where it can actually run several tests concurrently and the user account is just a base name to build off of.
Try adding: Use Current Account=1 to urlblast.ini. That will let you skip using a separate account and run the browser in the context of the same user that urlblast is running as. If that doesn't help, try uncommenting the browserExe=pagetest.exe from the locations.ini on the server. It's possible that there is a conflict with another browser plugin and that will run IE inside of a custom browser process that doesn't load any other plugins. Thanks, -Pat |

RE: Having issues running IE9 locally - Chrome works fine
I had the same problem. Fixed by setting the user as an admin AND disabling UAC
