RE: Despite caching code, Cache Static Content gets F
Greg at JavaBeanHosting suggested I add "ExpiresActive On" to my htaccess file. I've done this and my six LSn images files have disappeared from the failure list. HURRAH! here's the report: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/130720_X1_78Z/

My score for Leverage browser caching of static assets which was at 33/100 with 22 complete failures is now 50/100 with just 14 complete failures. My Document Complete first view is 3.254 seconds, with a repeat view of 1.578 seconds.

But it's still rated an F, it would be good to recognize the limited success by reclassifying such results as E ...

I'll now try putting a one day cache on css and js and see how that goes. Is this correct?

<IfModule mod_expires.c>
ExpiresActive On
ExpiresByType text/css A172800
ExpiresByType text/javascript A172800
ExpiresByType text/x-javascript A172800
ExpiresByType application/javascript A172800
ExpiresByType application/x-javascript A172800
</IfModule>

This worked! My score for Leverage browser caching of static assets is up to 58/100 with just 8 complete failures and 10/12 warnings now. My first view is now down to 2.354 seconds, the repeat view down to 1.484 seconds. And these improved results are still rated F. see: http://www.webpagetest.org/result/130720_6R_8JP/

Can and how do I cache the three Google pngs, along with the google_custom_search_watermark.gif? These change very rarely if at all...

It also fails to cache my page - http://www.lifestrategies.net/ - which has no type. Can and how do I get this cached?
