I came across this thread when searching for an answer to the same question. It looks like /var/www/webpagetest/www/nginx.conf is port agnostic. I was able to follow the basic guidelines here to enable SSL simply by editing /etc/nginx/sites-available/default. See section A single HTTP/HTTPS server.

Here's an example:

    listen 80 default_server;
    listen 443 ssl default_server;
    listen [::]:80 default_server ipv6only=on;
    listen [::]:443 default_server ssl ipv6only=on;
    ssl_certificate /path/to/myservername.org.crt;
    ssl_certificate_key /path/to/myservername.org.key;
